A well-stocked library is available to all inmates. It provides a wide variety of reading materials, including books, magazines and newspapers.  In addition to reading materials, the library also provides jigsaw puzzles, card/board games and other activities (work search, crossword puzzles, etc.).

Inmates must submit an Inmate Request Form to the library for the desired reading material, puzzles or games.  Library staff will deliver requested material to the inmates in their housing unit if material is unavailable.  Library staff may provide an alternative item if requested items are unavailable.

If a personal copy of an inmate's/client's book is inadvertently turned in to the library, the inmate/client may submit an Inmate Request Form to advise library personnel of the error.  Unclaimed personal books may be added to the library's circulation.

Book Donations

The library supplements it inventory through community donations; book and magazine donations are greatly appreciated.  At this time we do not accept donations of cards, games or puzzles from the general public.

Library staff will screen all books donated to the facility to ensure the appropriateness of the donated material.  Any reading material that depicts extreme violence; prurient nudity; or content that will adversely affect the safety, security or good order of the facility will not be accepted.  Inappropriate books or books in poor condition may be destroyed and recycled.  Surplus books may be donated to a local charity or other nonprofit organization.

Friends and families of current inmates/clients are not allowed to donate items.  However, you can order appropriate reading material from a third party vendor and have the third party vendor mail the reading material directly to the facility.  The package must include the inmate's name and data number.  Inmates/clients released from the facility may donate books one year from the date of their release.

To arrange a donation, please contact the library at (402) 599-2210 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 7:00AM-3:00PM.
