Medical, mental health and dental care is provided to all inmates.  The medical department is accredited by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. Services include:

  • Intake Screening:  All inmates receive a health screening by medical staff immediately upon their arrival
  • History & Physical:  Within 14 days of their arrival and annually thereafter, inmates receive a thorough medical examination.
  • Dental:  Within 14 days of their arrival and annually thereafter, inmates receive a thorough dental examination.
  • Mental Health: Within 14 days of their arrival and annually thereafter, inmates receive a thorough mental health assessment.
  • Medications:
    • Medical staff prescribes and administers medications to inmates
    • Inmates may not receive over-the-counter or prescription medications from sources outside the jail
    • When an inmate has prescription medication in their possession upon their arrival, the medications will be verified with the inmate's personal physician, securely stored and returned to the inmate upon release. Medical staff will prescribe and administer replacement medication as indicated by doctor's orders.
  • Infirmary: Male and female infirmaries, staffed by qualified medical professionals 24-hours per day is available for inmates who require constant medical or psychiatric care.
  • Specialty Consults:  Specialists, such as OB/GYN and Orthopedics, from the local community provide specialized care as needed.
  • Emergency Care:  Qualified medical staff is on duty 24-hours per day, seven days per week to provide emergency medical care.
  • Chronic Care:  Chronic care clinics are utilized to address pregnancy, hypertension, diabetes and other chronic health issues.
